WANTED: T40 Battery (or recommendation for safe online buy)
WANTED: T40 Battery (or recommendation for safe online buy)
I need to replace a worn out 9-cell (Sanyo) battery in my T40. I'm interested in either 6- or 9-cell new or slightly used. If anyone has anything that fits the bill, please let me know.
Also, any recommendations of reputable online retailers would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have to second that one. Anyone have any reputable eBayers? Suggestions?
Frankly, trying to tell real from aftermarket or counterfeit at this point is really difficult....

9 out of 10 times you will be OK with the chinese stuff on eBay, BUT it is the 1 out of 10 times that really gets you. Been there, done that. It just isn't worth, and it probably voids the warranty anyways.
A friends of mine sells new in box genuine IBM Batteries. I'll PM you when he gets back to me, in a day or two. \
At this point (2008), you are looking for NON RECALLED, FRESH STOCK with a 2007 MANUFACTURED DATE.

replace batteries
I have had good luck with www.BatteryRefill.com, which supplies exchange batteries at about half the price of new batteries.
They send you rebuilt battery and then you return your old one.

Re: replace batteries
Half the price of retail, but I'd find new batts on craigslist for that.syrenab wrote:I have had good luck with www.BatteryRefill.com, which supplies exchange batteries at about half the price of new batteries.

Plus you have to pack it and ship it, track it . Blah blah balh
and wait
and be without a battery...
But if you have an old machine, where you can't get a new Battery anymore, I agree.
I think Battery refill sells new batts as well.

Actually, it seems you send them YOUR battery, and then they send it back to you.syrenab wrote:I have had good luck with www.BatteryRefill.com, which supplies exchange batteries at about half the price of new batteries.

But I would be willing to give them a try.
Anyone have a shot, ORIGINAL OEM, 9-cell extended battery for a T40 that they are willing to give to a good new home for the low low cost of cheap shipping??

Larger capacity?
Interestingly, they make the claim that as the cells they use get more efficient, the batteries have a higher mAh rating. See bottom of:
http://www.batteryrefill.com/laptops/ib ... _T40.phtml
For example, on the regular T40 battery they note "Manufacture Capacity (mAh) : 4000mAh/4.0Ahr," and then "After Refill Capacity : 4400mAh/4.4Ahr."
However, on the 9 cell extended battery: "Manufacture Capacity (mAh) : 6600mAh/6.6Ahr," remains the same: "After Refill Capacity : 6600mAh/6.6Ahr."
That seems odd.
