WTT: My T60p for your T61 (or R61, X61 or X61s)
I have a 14" T60p 2007-83U with warranty until May of 2009. It has a fast 2.16GHz CoreDuo T2600, the 256MB FireGL graphics and a very nice 14.1" SXGA+ screen. Comes with a 9-cell battery with about 85% of its original capacity, a DVD-RW drive, 100GB 7200 RPM hard drive and 2.0 GB of RAM. I also upgraded the wireless to Atheros a/b/g from the original Intel 3495.
The machine is in near-new condition, perhaps a 9.5/10 and has no issues whatsoever, and if it did, well, its got 15 months of warranty left.
What I want is a 14" T61 (normal or wide) with high resolution screen and integrated graphics. Not really interested in Turbo Memory or WWAN (don't have it on the T60p), but if its there no biggie. Most important is that the machine is still under warranty, is cosmetically near-perfect and that it has no operational problems whatsoever as I don't want to troubleshoot anything.
Processor speed also not important.
Depending on what you have we can work out a trade either straight across or with some $$ added to the T61 to match my T60p.
I'm looking to trade because I want EFI instead of BIOS (for better OS X compatibility) and for the longer battery life of integrated graphics as I don't really game anymore. A little extra cash in my pocket wouldn't hurt either as the T60p is really more machine than I need these days.Wifi should be Atheros.
If the wifi in your machine is Intel, perhaps we just keep our respective wifi cards and trade machines without wifi installed as OS X does not support Intel wifi.
I would also consider an R61, but the cash differential would have to be larger, or an X61 or X61s so long as it included an ultrabase.

Would you consider selling this outright, and if yes, for what amount?

Guys, what's the "readers digest version" on why you all prefer the Atheros card?
I currently have a T60 with "Intel Pro Wireless 3945" showing up in the device manager.
For all I know, I have an Atheros already. LOL.

Generally better wireless reception in the Atheros cards than their Intel equivalents. I've only ever had an Atheros in one of my previous laptops and I do recall it being more consistent than the 2100b/2200bg/2915abg that have been scattered through the 3 Centrino TPs that I currently have. It may be a worthwhile future upgrade for your T60.Padhead wrote:Guys, what's the "readers digest version" on why you all prefer the Atheros card?

Atheros have better range and connectivity, but at the expense of more power consumption. On an unrelated note but also high priority for me, Atheros are natively supported by Mac OS X, Intel has no working drivers yet.

A lot of people seem to be buying the Atheros cards. Is the extra power consumption that significant?

Only if you want to eke out as much battery life as possible. Personally, I never consciously sought to find any difference between the 2, but I'm more often operating my laptops with the AC adapter plugged than not, so such a concern wouldn't be important for me.
Anyway, for fear of getting too far off the path of getting asiafish the swap he wants, I'll stop there.
