On eBay: X60s for $625 del., shouldn't last long!

Well, now it will last a while, because someone wasn't too bright and bid on it, instead of buying it outright at that awesome price.
Some people don't think, I tell ya!

Yeah, that was a great price for that x60s. Im pretty sure the price will go above what the seller was asking for.

It was $625 (incl shipping) ... AND someone bids on that without using BIN!

Some people do that for a reason...to make myself clear:
Let's just say I had a machine like this that I wanted to sell on eBay, but for more money. Then I see that this one is being offered for $625 shipped. There's no doubt that people who research the sold items before buying will see it has sold for the amount in question, and bring the value of my laptop down, at least for a week, maybe two. So I place a bid, not with the intention to buy, but to kill the ridiculously low-and therefore damaging for me-Buy It Now price.
How do you like them apples?

I was thinking maybe the orig. seller made a mistake and so his friend bid to help him out...

If I didn't already have 9 ThinkPads, including a mint X40, I would have grabbed it.
I don't have any insight as to why people list below market, other than for a quick sale. However, I have to say, it happens with some regularity. By perusing the completed auctions, you can see that low-priced BIN ThinkPads do come up, but don't last long.
There are always machines that sell below and well above the average for a specific model, this could have been one of them.
Note: The seller listed it with an opening price of $249 and a BIN price of $599. Without using a reserve that was closer to the BIN price, he set his auction up so that the first bid (which was a very low $249) would shut off the BIN feature. Not great planning if he really wanted to sell it fast. Basically, only the first interested bidder had the BIN option - and this one chose to bid instead of BIN.

WOW, I had never thought of that. And you know that you'd be safe placing the minimum bid, because it is guaranteed to go over that amount...interesting.

I'd like to personally thank you for giving everyone here this idea so they can drive up the prices of their used Thinkpads.

You're very welcome. However, the main issue here is that the owner was not smart enough to put a reserve price on the machine, which would enable "Buy It Now" option until the reserve was met...that's how you protect your listing (at least partially) from scammers and evil-doers...
On a whole another note, prices will go up for the simple fact of eBay increasing their fees, and all the other "good stuff"...it's going to be fun....
And, IMHO, if you have a nice machine and are in good standing here, you really don't need fleabay...
