FS: A31p, very good shape, FlexView, bargain, worldwide

#1 Post by ajkula66 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 10:30 pm

This year's crop has started to come in, and it looks like it's going to be a good one, so I feel like sharing the savings with my fellow forum members...

the basics:

ThinkPad A31p 2653-R4U

Original description:
P4-M 2.0GHz(512KB)
256MB RAM......................upgraded to 512Mb (single DIMM)
60.0GB HDD.......................NONE (cover IS included)
15.0 UXGA(1600x1200) TFT LCD
16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD
Modem(CDC)
Ethernet(CDC)
IEEE 1394
IBM Secure Chip(TCPA)
TV out
Li-Ion battery
Win2000............................restore media included

Let's not forget: ATi FireGl 7800 video chip with 64Mb VRAM, S-video IN and OUT.

known imperfections:
- some wear and sticker residue on the lid, most of which can likely be cleaned.
- no hard disk drive (cover is included)
- no AC adapter
- battery is weak (not a paperweight, but in red)

This is a VERY clean example of one of the most desirable ThinkPads ever. LCD is extremely nice, no red boot, scratches, dead pixels...most of the plastics are in fantastic shape, including keyboard. No GPU issues. Overall, a very strong 9 on a 1-10 scale.

I'm currently typing on it using Linux Mint (Daryna), and this oldtimer flies...had to tweak ATi drivers a bit, but would highly recommend this distro to anyone planning to run Linux on an A31p.

Asking $275 plus reasonable shipping depending on your location. As most of you know, I do ship worldwide and accept all reasonable payment methods.

I'm fully aware of the fact that the new owner will have to put in a few more bucks into this machine to max it out, and the price has been set to reflect that. Obviously, I have the parts to customize this laptop to almost any configuration, so do feel free to ask.

PM for high-resolution pictures, or with any questions/concerns that you might have.

Can you install a wireless adapter too? Thanks.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "install wireless adapter", but I'll try to answer it to the best of my abilities:

a) If you mean a PCMCIA card, that can be done for another $25.
b) If you are referring to internal wireless with antennas and everything else, I wouldn't do it on this machine, but can offer you one with internal wireless and bluetooth for a bit more money...

Hope this helps.

Price drop from $285 to $275 and this is as low as it will go. Please don't make me eBay this classic, it's way too pretty.
