This machine has been my (only) PC for over 4yrs. Selling because I bought a “new” T42p.

Original specs were:

Product: ThinkPad A31 2652-J3U [change]
Operating system: Windows XP [change]

Original description: P4-M 1.6GHz (512KB), 128MB RAM, 20.0GB HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, 24x-10x CD-ROM, Modem(CDC), Ethernet(CDC), TV out, Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

It actually came with a DVD and the memory is now upgraded to 768mb. The following items are also included:

-IBM 2nd HDD adapter
-IBM 40gb Hard Drive (Toshiba 5400rpm)
-IBM 8x8x24x CD-RW Drive
-IBM Thinkpad USB 2.0 Cardbus Adapter
-Belkin PCMCIA Wireless Adapter

And these freebies: 2 spare 128mb PC2100 memory boards (condition unknown), and a nice black carry case in great shape.

I’ve reinstalled the preload (XP Pro). I also downloaded Firefox, the recommended Windows updates (including SP2), and some IBM updates. I have not installed any software for the CDRW and DVD drives.

Condition: the computer is sold strictly as-is. It (mostly) functions properly to the best of my knowledge. It is in generally good physical condition. The following are the known defects:

-general wear consistent with the age of the machine. Condition 6-7 out of 10. Expect screen and case marks, keyboard shine, dust, etc.
-the Trackpoint cap is worn out
-the battery is toast. It holds enough charge to move the machine to another power outlet (generally a minute or two), but that is all.
-there are several small cracks in the housing under the drive bays. They are a result of picking up the machine without drives in place. Not really noticeable unless the drives are out.
-the right hinge is a little loose inside the machine. It has been this way for the entire 4+ yrs I have owned it. I never opened it up to find out why. I think it might be a missing screw.
-Sometimes it hangs on shut-down or when going to sleep. I think this might be related to the either the Belkin card or the battery, but I am not sure.

Asking $200 shipped in CONUS, payment by Paypal (verified with confirmed address only) or US Postal Money Order, will not ship internationally. See my feedback on e-Bay userid ‘mikejbarker’. Thanks.

I'm going to say no, it's not too high. But basic A31 machines are generally a PITA to sell nowadays, for whatever reason.

Just my $0.02...

Thanks George. I had to look up what PITA stands for! I must be out of it. Sorry to hijack this post.

Good luck with your sale,
Ron
