WTB: Thinkpad computer in the $300 price range
Hi everyone,
This seems like a nice little community and I'm glad to be a part of it.
I currently use an X61 Thinkpad for my job and have been really impressed with the Thinkpad computers.
My wife needs a laptop and I am looking for a Thinkpad laptop for her. I would like to spend around $300 or so. I'm on a bit of a budget so I won't be able to entertain anything in the $400-$900 price range.
I haven't really kept up on the specs for computers over the years....but I think we would ideally want something with the following:
- 14' monitor
- wireless network card that is built in
- at least 512 megs of ram, but 1 gig would be ideal
- Working with no hardware issues....I am comfortable re-installing software such as Windows and MS Office
- I have a legitimate copy of Windows XP, MS Word 2003 which is all she will really need....so I dont need a lot of extra software.
- decent size Hard Drive....perhaps 50 gigs or so
From what I've have seen, it might be possible to get a T40/T41 with these specs. I really like the X series (such as an X40/X41) but it seems like there is a big premium for the small size so one of those would probably be out of our price range.
Perhaps there is an R model that is in my price range as well?
This computer will be used for email, MS Word, very small MS Excel spreadsheets and internet browsing. There will be no games, graphics, movie watching etc.
If anyone has anything for sale, or has any suggestions on which models I should be keeping an eye out for, I would appreciate it.
I know this is my first post on this website....but I have lots and lots of prior transactions for buying/selling wristwatches on www.timezone.com and can provide many references and also have references on ebay under Mr_Pacman
Thanks and any input would be appreciated.

You're on the right track. An R5x or T4x will do the trick and come up in that price range here and on eBay fairly regularly at this point.
Good luck.
Good luck.

I bought a grade B X40. I am very happy with it. Body doesn't t have any scratch (maybe little on the bottom). But it sure has less scratch than my T60.NorrisCell wrote:Holy crap. Those are some good prices. You ever bought from them before? I could care less about cosmetics. I want that grade C T43 for $320
