I'm looking for an IBM Thinkpad T4x machine with a bad motherboard. I would prefer complete systems with battery, power supply, RAM and hard drives but will consider machines with parts missing as well. Certain other broken other things might be ok but MUST have a good screen and be in overall presentable condition. Please be as detailed as possible.

Hi,

I have this system

Product: ThinkPad T41p 2373-GGG

Original description: P M 1.7GHz, 512MB RAM, 60GB 7200rpm HDD, 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD, 128MB Fire GL T2, 16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD(slim), Bluetooth/Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), Intel 802.11b wireless(MPCI), Secure Chip, UltraNav, 9 cell battery, WinXP Pro

It has a bad motherboard, which causes the system not to turn on. If however you'd detach the whole LCD assembly, it fires up and can be used with a external display.

I had it checked with a authorized servicer, and the problem is the motherboard. Too expensive for me to have repaired. If you are interested let me know.

*EDIT*

The keyboard layout is Finnish/Swedish, and has a European powercord. Otherwise, all original parts will be included, as listed on the Lenovo support site for a 2373-GGG, though no Windows license.

Hmm, that actually seems more like a display problem since detaching it makes the system work. PM sent anyway.

I have one. It is T4X system, great LCD and new keyboard.
There will be NO memory, drives or AC adaptor
I can leave a Wifi card installed.
This system works, but the USB ports are bad and it acts a bit funky a times, although it does not crash.
Needs a systemboard
battery is included but not great.
Currently has 1.5 Ghz CPU
$125 plus flat rate USPS shipping in US only, PayPal OK

That's what I thought as well, but the servicer thought differently. It's our own servicer, as I am an IBM employee, so I kinda have to believe them :)

I just took it out from the box, where it has been for a few months. I cleaned the LCD and noticed it has some markings on it, which do do not come off. Perhaps this is not ideal for the ones looking for an LCD, as I couldn't guarantee much e.g. if it has dead pixles etc.

Here's 3 pictures I took, and you can see the markings in the middle picture. The ones spotting the 6 cell battery, I also have a 9 cell for it, both of course are old-ish.

So far nothing worked out. Anybody else? Looking for something cheap in the $100 range. Also, if you have something, please PM me first before posting it in the thread.
