Bill, I found this info for my system "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot."
So it probably won't fit X60 but X61.

this module will fit.   i have two of the exact same modules in my T61p and have installed them in friends'/clients' X60s and T60s.   fyi, you can physically install 4GB in the X60 but it can only address up to 3GB regardless of OS used.

More info: on my friend's Dell w/ i915 chipset, a 2gb stick works, even though it won't support two of them (max 2gb).
Helpful for those with an X41/T43/R52/Z60*.

I have two 2GB modules in my Z61t and they work wonderful running Vista Business...that is a total of 4GB.

I placed my order for one of the Crucial 2GB modules since the rebate is a limit of one module. This will be installed in my X60s for a total of 3GB.

It's a good deal. I hate rebates, and this particular one would not work for me because Crucial always disallows PO Box addresses. Where I live, there is no letter carrier delivery to residences, so all mailing addresses in my town are PO Box addresses.

For about $10 or $12 more you can usually get a 2gb module from Newegg delivered without having to file for a rebate.

I particularly hate rebate deals where the rebated amount ends up being the majority of the purchase price (as in this Crucial deal). If for whatever reason you don't get the rebate paid, you will have significantly overpaid for this RAM, and you will probably be PO'd at yourself as a result.

Yes...I agree with all your points. But, I am a sucker for a deal. Most of my FRY's rebates do happen.

BTW...the same RAM is selling at Newegg for $51.99. I love Newegg when they have killer deals but it usually involves a rebate. They have good customer service and stand behind their products. I had to email them when a rebate was not received and got a refund from Newegg within a week. Newegg ROCKS.
