Opinions Wanted - Potential Purchase

#1 Post by NorrisCell » Sun Mar 23, 2008 9:33 pm

Looking for some opinions on a potential purchase for myself. This would be an off lease model with a 30 day replacement warranty.

Specs are below:

Product: ThinkPad T43 2668-46U

Original description: P M 750(1.86GHz), 512MB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 TFT LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X300, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11bg wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), 1Gb Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro

All of the original hardware holds true.

Any estimates on value? As I said, it would be from an off-lease reseller.

I'd guess $450 or so, depending on condition.

It's listed as "Grade A" condition, and they do list their lower grade laptops separately, so I would be fairly confident on the condition.

A grade A T43 wouldn't be worth any more to me than what I stated...now if it still had a good amount of IBM/Lenovo warranty left, that would be a different story. There are many T43's around with IBM warranty left. I'd try to look for one of those.

Unfortunately I'm the same way. I'd rather have a rough looking one and save the money. As long as it works well, I don't need it to look pretty.

I second Harry's opinion. And if we're talking about the same re-seller, they have a grade C machine for $325...

We are talking about the same people. Problem is, upon adding the Grade C (Same with the Grade B) to your cart, it says the quantity is not available, which means those grades are sold out. I may just hold out for another B or C

To put it this way: any T4x without a FlexView is next to worthless these days, thanks mainly to Lenovo themselves...for a similar amount of money (well, to what Harry and myself assumed) I could offer you a R60 with 14"SXGA+,Core Duo, multiburner...and 18 months of on-site warranty...I'm sure you get the picture.

I've had the exact same T43 and hated the keyboard while loving the rest...for $325, whatever grade as long as it's working, is fine. And that price is hard to beat.

Just my $0.02
