Hey everyone,

I'm sure someone here has an old thinkpad screen with a thinklight that works. I am looking to replace my X41's amber light that just plain sucks for night work. I use my X41 in the car for servicing during the night and have found the amber thinklight to just be horrible... I remember my Tx series ones had white and hence why I want to replace it!

If you have one you are willing to sell, please PM ME! And please keep price reasonable - this ebay auction has one available for $16.50 shipped:

Has anyone ever done this? Are all thinklights sized the same? Any pre buying advice would be helpful. Thanks again!

PayPal account ready.

the thinklight is built into the display cable.   your best bet would be to find another X-series cable (X3x or X6x) that will fit.

this is a good place to start: hardware maintenance manual index

its just a small L.E.D. if yur handy with a soldering iron pick one up at radio shack or ebay, though ebay will be a pain if you only need one led.

also when i say small, i meen SMALL, they are surface mounts so you need a soldering iron with a small tip.
