WTB: 2 gig DDR2 laptop ram.

#1 Post by SaberX » Fri Mar 28, 2008 8:07 am

I know thease can be had for cheap sometimes on diffrent online sites. But here in my city they still run 79.99+ 15% tax.

Looking for DDR2 667Mhz (or maybe 533Mhz)
PC-5300 (but will look at PC-4200 also)

I have a 1 gig now.
So looking for the 2 gig one.

There seem to be a nice few 1 gig ones out there used for 20.00.Thought i would see if there are any 2 gig's out there befor i buy the 1 gig.

Thanks

Order from NCIX.com

They're based in Richmond, BC, and I've ordered hundreds of items from them with no problems.

Shipping is usually $10 flat rate (unless it's a larger item), and the 2GB of RAM is only $40. I bought 2x 2GB sticks and I can't complain about the performance :)

Go to their main page, look at their "March of Savings" sale, then find the OCZ 2GB DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) SODIMM.

I looked at NCIX.ca.
That 2 gig ram is 39.99+10.00 shipping and 15% tax comes out to $56.49.
It's not bad for CDN price.
I just wanted to see what is out there used and for what price.
I may just look for another 1 gig stick.I'll have 2 gig total then. For what i use the laptop for,2 gigs should do.

I would not recommend purchasing at NCIX. If you do, do yourself a favour and buy the "advance RMA" shipping/insurance for 3% of the order price. Their customer support left me massively underwhelmed.

I'm a proponent of NCIX, since it saved me many hundreds over the years. Yes, shipping is expensive ($10 for a small item), but my orders are usually on a few items and so it's no more than $2-$3 shipping per item. I'd recommend diving deep and going for the 4GB matched pair (think of it this way: each is only $45).

Again, I've never had problems with NCIX. Only one thing was ever late (an 8GB SD card) that I purchased in their Boxing Day sale - which makes sense since it was their largest day of sales of the whole year and everything sold out within an hour - and when I contacted customer service I got 2 replies in the same day and with a tracking number :)

GL with your decision.
