Trade: My "mint" T60 15' 4:3 for your X60/X61.
I have a T60 that is in mint condition. I bought it from a fellow who won it in a contest. The battery has 11 cycles on it, and there is no wear/tear on the computer whatsoever. It was basically brand new when I bought it last weekend (he had booted it up....but hadn't set up the machine), and I've used it at home for the past week.
This computer is just too big for me, and I would like to trade it for an X60 or X61. I do not want the "tablet" version of the X series computer. I can add cash for value adjustment.
The mode # on the computer is: 2007-75U
Feel free to email me for the serial #. I checked the serial # online with the Lenovo website and it still has warranty on it until November 2010.
This computer is a 4:3 screen in 15 inches. The resolution is 1400 x 1050 and the screen is bright. There was one dead pixel on it when I got the computer, and I lightly touched the area on the screen and it went away. I'm not sure if this screen is the "flexview" or not....as I'm not a thinkpad expert.....but perhaps you will be able to tell via the model# or the serial #.
The specs are 100 gig HD, 1 meg ram, 2.0ghz, windows XP pro, CDRW/DVD(dvd is not a writer). 6 cell battery.
This computer has no scratches, dings on the exterior, no wear/tear on the keyboard as it's only been powered on for 15 hours at the most.
The X60 or X61 that I'm looking for must have at least 1 meg of ram, 60 gig HD and be working perfectly. Wear/tear on the exterior is ok as long as there are no cracks or major dings.
Let me know what you have. I can take pictures and email them to any intersested traders. I live in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and would like to keep this deal within the U.S/Canada to reduce any shipping hassles/cost.
I'm new to the thinkpad forums, but can provide lots and lots of references from prior internet transactions involving >1000 wristwatches and golf clubs.
As a part of my due dilligence for internet transactions(mainly to reduce fraud), I like to be able to make a personal phone call to the other party so we can discuss the particulars of the trade on the phone.....so you must be open to exchanging phone #'s.
Please let me know if you have any questions via email or you can PM me on this website.
My email address is mr_pacman@shaw.ca or jdixon@shaw.ca
Thanks,
James Dixon

FYI, this is a FlexView LCD that you have...
If you have a cash price for this unit, feel free to PM me, I would be interested but don't have an X6x unit to offer.

My boss also has a T60 with 15.0" 1400x1050 Flexview and the screen looks awesome. (My R50p's have Flexview too but their screens are several years older so my boss's T60 looks brighter.) Mr-Pacman, you've been using the best laptop LCD ever made whereas the X6* uses the worst LCD in the industry, so you may be shocked by how bad it looks. I strongly urge you to swap with someone local so that you can take a look at the screen in person before committing to swap.
If I were you, I would keep the T60 for use as a desktop replacement at home or in your office. Get another, lighter laptop for use on the road. This way, you won't have to stare at a lousy LCD all the time, but only when you travel.

My "issue" is, I have a T61 with a faster processor, more ram and bigger HD enroute from Lenovo and it should be here in a few days. It's a 14' 4:3 model. The T61 was supposed to be the desktop replacement (I just sold my desktop) and the T60 was supposed to be the mobile unit. It wasn't the best plan, but the T60 presented itself for sale after I had already ordered the T61 and the price on the T60 was too good to pass up.
I have an X60 tablet that I use for work, and while the screen is not as nice when compared to my T60.....it would be all I need for the time being.
How are the screens on the 14' 4:3 T61's versus the T60? How about the T61 versus the X series screens?

The 14.1" 4:3 T61 is significantly lighter than the 15" T60. I guess you wanted the T61 to be the desktop replacement and the T60 to be mobile because the T61 has faster CPU, more RAM and a bigger HDD. But I bet you won't notice a difference in performance between the two, because the T60 is already very powerful.Mr-Pacman wrote:The T61 was supposed to be the desktop replacement (I just sold my desktop) and the T60 was supposed to be the mobile unit.
Have you thought about the following arrangement. Swap the hard drives and RAM so that the T60 has the bigger HDD and RAM than the T61. Take out the T61's optical drive and, if it has the extended battery, swap that with the T60's 6-cell battery. Then the T61 will become around 4.8 pounds, much more portable than the T60. You may find that light enough so that you don't need an X series.
But if you still want to swap, you have my permission LOL!

I never thought about doing that. The reason I really want the T61 as the "desktop replacement" was because it going to have a 2.2ghz processor versus the 2ghz in the T60. I only do internet browsing, email and MSword/MSExcel.....so I suppose the power difference will be negligible.pianowizard wrote:The 14.1" 4:3 T61 is significantly lighter than the 15" T60. I may have found a computer tote that will fit this T60....if that's the case, I may just stay with my original plan and use the T60 for travel and the T61 at home. It wasn't really the weight that was bugging me, but more the fact that I couldn't find a slim laptop case that would fit the 15' T60.
I'll wait for the T61 and compare the screens. If the T60 Flexview is that much better, then I will make the T60 the home desktop. If they are similar, I'll keep the T61 at home as use the T60 as the road warrior.

Well, I've changed my mind again and taken the advice given by Pianowizard.
After thinking about it all weekend, and comparing the T61 screen versus the T60 Flexview, I've decided to make the T60 Flexview my desktop replacement and use my newly delivered T61 for the road.
Today, I upgraded the ram in the T60 to 2 gigs. Other than that, it's quite fast for what I need it to do at home, and the 100 gig HD should be fine. If I need to, I can always swap out the 160gig from my T61 into the T60...but right now, I have about 75 gigs free on the T60 so that should do me for a while.
It's actually quite amazing when you compare the difference between the 15' Flexview and my 14' LG panel. I don't know if I got a crappy 14's screen on my T61, but the Flexview has the quality of a full size external monitor whereas my standard 14' LG panel has some light bleed along the bottom, and it's not as crisp.
Thanks for the advice and for those of you who contacted me about potential trades/sales.
Regards,
James
