I just wanted to note (which you may perhaps already know?) that according to 14.1inch LCD service parts - ThinkPad T40/p, T41/p, T42/p the SXGA+ display you look for - 11P8348 - is made by Samsung. As you see, there is an alternative, being the 11P8346 which is made by ID Tech. According to the thread POLL: Is your 14" display is a Samsung or IDTECH? some users prefer the Samsung display, and some prefer the ID Tech.

Actually, I believe that you have even more choices than only these two, because it is my understanding (and more knowledgeable ThinkPad'ers please correct me, if wrong!) that 14.1" SXGA+ panels from all T4x's (= T40/41/42/43/p's) are interchangeable - this is e.g. indicated in this eBay add. So, if you check 14.1 inch LCD service parts - ThinkPad T43/p you will see three additional alternatives, being: The 92P6737 (HYDIS), and the 13N7046 (newer HYDIS, lead-free) and the 92P6760 (Samsung). If you search by yourself on e.g. eBay, you may find the (T43) Samsung panel also offered under its "original name", LTN141P4-L02.

Finally, you may perhaps want to check the thread WTB: 14" SXGA T6x, T4x Laptops and SXGA LCD - see the post by BobA of Fri Mar 21, 2008 1:28 am. And, hey, now that you have the opportunity, then why don't you grab a New LCD cover whily you have the convenient opportunity - that would make your T42 look brand new!! :-)

Subsequent update: With respect to the NMB/Thai (rare!!) keyboard, then the answer is right at your nose-tip; see yesterdays bupmed thread FS: New IBM keyboard for 14.1" T4x R5x (Thai) $40 - no need to look elsewhere, and also no need not to grab that one, right now!

Good luck with finding all your spares - and may your T42p live for many years to come... :thumbs-UP:

Best regards,

Johan
