#1 Post by gator » Tue Apr 29, 2008 10:45 pm

Item # 280222209540

One of the rare thinkpads, but the price is too high ... I'd love to own this :(

Yeah, I saw that too and was drooling all over it but I can't justify $240 for a P3 with 256MB maximum RAM. But the XGA lcd screen looks very tasty. :) I wonder if it has a built-in Ethernet jack too.

In my opinion, this will sell. 240Z units are beyond rare nowadays.

Plus that looks in fabulous condition - I'd probably go for it if I was more appropriately continentally located...

Be careful what you wish for, sometimes you might get it :P

The spec isn't as good, but I would guess that if specification was a concern for a lightweight one would go for an X40/41 or X60s/61s..

Or my forthcoming Inspiron 700m...but that's one I'll keep an eye on for certain. I'm just laughing about the 2GB hard drive right now though...

I was looking at the specs and saw 2GB, and I thought to myself that's usable even for today. Then I saw that 2GB is the hard drive, not RAM.

That's still a lot more (2Gb) than I have in my 701C and it runs W95 perfectly... :D

OMG! That's one awesome looking laptop! This thing looks pristine from almost every angle. Just the thing for a Japanese collector

I just noticed that this 240Z does not have the standard 7 row thinkpad keyboard ... guess they could not fit in!

But did you folks see this one?:

http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-240X-Laptop-Upg ... dZViewItem

I was kinda surprised that this seller is toting an XP sticker on the 240X...

Then again, most 240X's (like the one I'm typing on now) doesn't have any stickers on it!

Actually, this prompted me to recall the old family Acer 486 desktop (the first computer I ever regularly used) and thinking that the 455MB hard drive was massive compared to those 1.44MB floppies  . My main point of laughter came from the thought that I carry a 2GB USB drive in my pocket almost daily.

That's very much a hit and miss situation with 240 units in general. I believe I've had them with every sticker imaginable, as well as without any...logic is non-existent here IMHO.

Wow, that thing sold for $255 + shipping. That's a bit crazy considering 240x is available for much less and aside from the screen isn't much worse.
