Bought it at a Tag sale, and I want to get it running for my girlfriend.

Also looking to max out memory, Upgrade Hard drive, and possibly upgrade the processor.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Why restoration CD?
Why not just pop in the XP? It should work. The restoration is probably 98SE or ME anyway.

My 2621
433 Mhz
256 (128x2)
60 Gb 5400
14 screen (largest of its model)
modified internet wifi and antenna, by removing the modem.

well, Because I don't want XP, cause it won't run as smoothly as 98 or 2000 would. I know it could run xp, but it would run slower than what She's looking for.

Thanks anyway though!

I have 2621-460, which should be pretty close to yours. I have installed ME on it without any driver problems. Let me know if you are interested or just private me.

From what tfflivemb2 has said, these aren't too easy to come by.

Anyone seen some?

I still don't know what you are looking for in the restoration CD's other than maybe IBM logo wallpaper and screen savers. Anyway, wish you luck.

Some people would rather have the recovery disks so that they have a "legal", inexpensive way to restore their system....without having to pay for another copy of Windows.

I'm not trying to be an S, but if we are getting one from here and it's not our original, it wouldn't be legal would it? I'm just trying to understand.

Yes, it would be legal, because the restore disks are universal...as long as the Thinkpad still has a COA attached. These disks would be the same as disks that IBM/Lenovo were selling for that series back then.

Plus, if I am somewhere other than my home, or I don't have acess to internet, God forbid something happens to the Laptop, I have a recovery disc there to fix it on the spot. Trust me, I had to do this on a trip to Maine with my T23. The recovery partition was corrupt, so I had to reformat the drive, and pull out the CD's to re-install.

I'm back for another lovely year of college, and realized I still had this post up. Anyone seen anything lately?
