WTB: two Wi-Fi "N" cards (T60p and T41)

#1 Post by SaberX » Tue Jul 08, 2008 7:02 pm

Looking to buy two wireless "N" cards.
I guess they will be B/G/N and maybe A.

Looking for one for a T60P so it's MiniPCI Express.

The other is for a T41 so i guess just a MiniPCI.

Let me know if you have any of thease and a price.
Oh ya must be a good price also.....

Not sure if you'll be able to get mini-pci wifi N ... AFAIK no one made such a card.
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:

Sparklan made a couple. However, I doubt you'll find anybody selling them here, you'd have to get it new for $50-60. You'd need the 1802 hack, of course.

I was just serching e-bay the last little while and it seems you are right.
I cant see any MiniPCI Wifi-N.
Looks like i'll have to use PCMCIA Wifi-N card.

I see a few MiniPCI-E internal "N" cards for the T60P. Just have to find the best one for it...

Mostly looking for the wi-fi "N" card for the T60p now....
From what i can find out the intel "N" cards need a bios hack to get working.
BUT the T60/p did have an option of the "N" card's.
Antheros 802.11n draft Wireless mini PCI express Card. FRU: 42T0825 seem to be the one to get.

Anyone have one for sale or know for a place where i can get a new one?
It's going into my buddys T60P who dont want to do the bios hack.He just wants to install the new "N" card , load the drivers and way to go....

Only the last of the T60/T60p's had an "N" option. There is a third antenna connection that even if you have the N card would not be used with a SXGA+ T60/T60p. The WS 15" T60's had the third antenna. The 14" WS may have the third antenna also.

Good point Brad...I must check to see if his T60P has the 3rd antenna.
It's a T60P with 15.4" Widescreen SXGA+(1680x1050).
If not i have a short wi-fi antenna i could use or others say to use one of the antennas for the cell phone card.

If it is a 15" WS then there very well could be an extra antenna there. Even if there isn't you could still use the "N" card without the antenna. The WWAN antenna blue wire will not reach the wifi card but there is the red wire coming from the right LCD hinge that if it's there you could use.

Another option is to buy a 3rd antenna and put it in the blank space of the 2nd miniPCIE connector. This is what I did with my T60 and R60, and it worked fine.
