Advice wanted: value of A21P

#1 Post by fasterbybike » Tue Jul 22, 2008 12:33 am

I have a tidy A21P that I'd like to sell. How much could I realistically expect to sell it for - given that these are getting quite old now :(

2629-H2G

Original Description:
PIII 850MHz (256KB)
128MB RAM now 512MB
32.0 GB-HS
15.0 TFT 1600x1200 now Flexview UXGA from A30P
8X-DVD,
PCI Modem, now PCI Modem/Ethernet 10/100
Win2000

Has a new battery with 5 cycles and comes complete with charger.
Plastics are 8/10 (small amount of scuffing and a very small crack in the upper plastics).

All advice is welcome.

Thanks

I don't know the market in New Zealand, but here in the States:

a) You'd probably walk away with around $200
b) You'd probably be better off parting it out, RAM alone will get you $60 or so...

PM me once you figure out the price, I might be interested.

Best of luck with the sale.

I mostly agree with ajkula66. It's worth around $180-200. The optimal solution would be to take the RAM out and replace it with 2x128s then sell the machine and then sell the RAM separately. That's the largest amount of profit for the least amount of hassle. You can also try switching the screens but I would predict it's a pain and probably not worth it.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll advertise it locally (to save on trans Pacific shipping costs). If no luck within a reasonable period of time expect to see it FS in this forum's marketplace.

It also says you replaced the UXGA screen with a IPS UXGA screen.
That should ad a few more bucks to it.
Souds like a very nice older thinkpad....
But as others have said , maybe 180.00 to 200.00.Maybe little more IF the IPS screen in in great shape, nice and bright.

Love to see pic's of the transplant of the IPS screen in the system.
