The time has come to sell my wife’s trusty T40p. She has a new T61, so she no longer needs this one. This has been her main laptop for about three years. It's seen a lot of use, but has been well-maintained and well-cared for. Overall, I'd rate it an 8/10, mainly because of exterior cosmetics. Functionally, the machine works perfectly. No issues whatsoever.
The machine is a 2373-G1U. Cosmetically, it's in good shape. The interior plastics are excellent. There is some keyboard shine but not heavy wear, and the LCD is free of scratches or other problems. There are no dead/stuck pixels. The backlight is a little weak, to my eyes. It's certainly usable at full power for standard email, web surfing and word processing, but it’s definitely not as bright as the current Lenovo displays. The exterior has quite a bit of surface wear on the top of the case, but no ugly scratches, marks, or other signs of damage.
Here are the specs:
P M 1.6GHz
1gb RAM
40GB 5400rpm HDD
14.1 SXGA+ (1400x1050) TFT LCD
64MB ATI Fire GL 9000
16x10x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD(slim)
Bluetooth/Modem
1Gb Ethernet
802.11a/b/g wireless
Win XP Pro
We have upgraded from the original specs to 1gb of RAM (added another 512mb stick) and an a/b/g wireless card.
Three batteries are included, two six cells and one nine cell. The six cells are both very worn, the nine cell is in better condition. The specs for each are as follows:
6 cell no. 1: 19.92 watts at full charge (out of 47.52 designed capacity).
302 cycle count
6 cell no. 2: 21.15 watts at full charge
169 cycle count
9 cell: 53.10 watts out of 71.28 designed capacity
54 cycle count
The Windows XP COA is still affixed to the bottom of the machine.
If you want the machine with the original HD in it, with the restore partition intact and a fresh install of XP, then I would ask $300, including shipping.
If desired, I can leave the current HD in it, which is an 80gb Hitachi Travelstar (7200 rpm). This has XP installed on it but not with the original partition. The price with this configuration would be $325, including shipping.
A set of restore disks and a mini-dock will be included with the sale.
If you want to provide your own HD, then I would knock off an appropriate amount . . . say, $25? The whole package would then be $275, shipping included.
