Sounds like your boot order might be messed up. Try going into the BIOS and see if you can remove the Network option from your boot order. The PX error is typically related to an error in booting to a network drive.

Already tried that. Tried rebooting with defaults, and with network completely disabled.
Next step is to boot without modem/wifi hooked up.
BTW, is this a fair price, or should I go down? There's another T43 that's going for $400, but is fully functional. However, it's the 14".

If I had the money, I would pick it up at this price...definately.
It could be that the hard drive is shot. Have you tried running a diagnostic on the hard drive? I like to use the Hitachi/IBM hard drive Fitness Test. I use the
Ultimate Boot CD to boot from, and use the tool to run the test on hard drives.

Hard drive is shot.
Boots up to XP Install screen with a T42 80gb HDD.
Currently looking for a new used HDD.
