This is a great deal, and I think I have the parts needed to complete it.

But I'm sure someone will beat me to it before I scrounge up the cash.

Do you have any idea whether the RAM and HDD from a T42 (2379-DWU) would work on this machine?

Do you think I could put in a configured (with OS & applications) HDD from a T42 into this and not have to format?

The RAM would definitely work. The load from your T42 hard drive might work. It is very similar in architecture to a T41.

Just wanted to say I just bought a similar T40 from NorrisCell and it was in great shape at a similarly great price. If I hadn't just got the other one, i'd be jumping on this deal myself.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you are happy with it.

For those interested, this machine shows no signs of the GPU issue. It has been run for multiple hours, as well as picked up and moved while running, and has never had any screen issues.

I've done a similar swap before. Pulled my running T40 HD and put it into this exact T41. It ran fine, just needed to install one or two drivers specific to the T41. All hardware worked without configuration
