See topic: I want to replace the Intel 4965 ABGN card in my laptop with the Thinkpad one.

Thanks.

I have been a big fan of the IBM wireless cards. So I got my T61p with one. It did not work well. I replaced it with a reasonably priced card to be certain. It did not work well. I finally got an Intel 3945 abg (but not N) card. It works really, really well. It was probably a driver problem, but Lenovo has not updated the IBM (Atheros) driver in nearly a year.

So if your Intel card is not working to your satisfaction, by all means try the other card. Just be certain before you buy.

I am NOT trying to push you one way or the other - just relaying my own story. ... JDH

If you are interested in an Atheros based card, I have a spare ThinkPad a/b/g/n wireless mini-PCIe card - FRU 42T0825.

I've used it on an X60s and X60t with no BIOS-1802 related issues, don't have a "61" series model to try.

I plan on using the madwifi driver, and I'll play with my Intel 4965 and the IBM(Atheros) one before deciding what to settle on :)
