Would any Ultrabay 2000 CDRW/DVD combo drive be acceptable, or does it absolutely need to have that FRU?

Hi Ray,

I am not really sure if other PNs will work. I got the FRU PN from

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 42839.html

(see item#19)... to my limited understanding of this, I only have the ones listed as my options and nothing more.
Best Regards,
Rosh

Just wanted to let you know that I modified your title, so that some people will know what it is you are looking for. Most people don't know part numbers by heart.

Also, if you can tell us what model Thinkpad this is for, you will increase your chances of getting what you need. When you are dealing with opitcal drives, and other components, you don't have to stick with the part number that is listed in the HMM or on IBM/Lenovo's site. Many of the parts are interchangeable.

The number that is listed is just what came with that machine. There is always room to move with these....not to mention that if you hold out specifically for that part number, you might either end up waiting a long time, or end up paying more than what another part would cost....
