Time to sell off my groovy toy. It's an awesome little system for which I sadly have very little use. Here are the specs:
1. Intel full P3 500MHz (not a Celeron!)
2. full 256MB RAM
3. IBM/Hitachi 40GB 5400rpm hard disk
4. Intel 2100b wireless card with antennas*
5. 3com PCMCIA 10/100 network card
6. almost new OEM battery + power brick
7. 10.4in screen in excellent condition
8. 1xUSB 1.1, sound, infrared, etc
9. external floppy drive
10. fresh Windows 2000 SP4 install
All mods personally done by me, all work great. I've been working on Thinkpads for a few years now and this was my personal machine so all the mods have been performed with extra care.
Firstly, there is brand new Kingston 256MB memory module and I cut a couple of legs on one of the chips built-in to the motherboard. This not only gave full 256MB of RAM but also made RAM access better as the built-in RAM was made in 2000 along with the rest of the system and the access and timing were slow and high. I also put in a 5400rpm drive that is plenty fast and has enough storage space with 40GB. It has a fresh W2K install and runs great.
Wireless card is an Intel low profile card with antennas wired by me. One antenna is under the palm rest, the other is on the screen lid. I do have the original miniPCI modem, if you want it I can include it with the system. I'm also throwing in a 3COM 10/100 PCMCIA adapter with pop-out jack, so when not in use it sits inside the card and doesn't extrude.
The battery has been bought brand new on eBay (IBM OEM) a few months back and maybe has 10 full cycles on it if that. A floppy drive is also included. And last but not least, I used a T4x-style trackpad because it fits well and is far more comfy to use than the original T2x-style one.
The machine is in excellent condition, it has been barely used by previous owners, in fact I think they never used it because it looked brand new when I bought it a few months ago. There still isn't any real wear on any of it as it's been sitting on my desk most of the time.
I'm looking for $200 shipped in USA (Europe add $20) but will consider close offers.
