Li-Ion battery - In red, 50% capacity, lasts for an hour.
WinXP Pro - COA intact, SP3 loaded. Recovery partition and recovery discs included

Overall I'd rate this machine a 9 or better out of 10. The UXGA Flexview LCD is flawless and bright. It doesn't get any better than this on a Thinkpad. There is slight shine to some keyboard keys, and a couple of very light scratches on the LCD outer lid, hardly worth mentioning. Other than that, I can't find any signs of wear.

Asking $300 plus actual shipping to any place in the world. Pictures available upon request, but they won't come close to capturing the pristine condition of this machine.

Bump. I neglected to mention that this machine is the result of a long running forum project. Many of the parts and all of the labor were/was donated by members. In effect, the machine is currently 'owned' by the members here, and I am acting as their agent. To see the work that went into this machine, see the thread below. By purchasing this machine you will also be supporting ongoing projects in this very forum, and ultimately the forum itself. Thanks to everyone who participated in the 'Thinkpads.com A31P project'.

How much does it weigh? Does the battery hold a charge? How's the keyboard on the A series?

Also, how do these compare to the T-series? Thanks!

Well, first of all, shipping would be free because you live in the same county that I do, if you are willing to pick it up that is. As far as weight, here are the specifications.
The keyboard is phenomenal, just as good as any other T4X Thinkpad out there. As compared to the T series, the main difference is the CPU architecture. The A31's run a Pentium 4M CPU, and the T40 series run a Pentium M. The main attraction to this machine is that it has (2) bays for drives, and that it has a Flexview UXGA LCD that is second to none, regardless of manufacturer. Also it has speakers that are very nice sounding, much better than T4X machines. The battery holds a charge and lasts an hour.

A couple of things here...

a) The same machine as this one cost me a tinge under $4,000 new in 2002...

b) This is one of the top-ten A31p units that I've ever owned, and my count on these is well past a hundred...

c) CPU can be upgraded to a P4M 2.4 or 2.6 and then you have a real beast...

d) There's a reason why these are still "hanging out" in space... :D
