SOLD:
A truly scary T42! I have no idea how anyone could abuse a laptop like this one, but here it is...for Halloween!

(If it doesn't sell whole, I will part out...)

It started as a very fine FlexView 15" LCD T42, model 2379-DXU - now it's almost as bad as Frankenstein!

*Image links removed*

Please read all the details below, there is plenty of evil and a little silver lining. At best this is a good 1) parts, 2) beater, or 3) test machine.

As is...reduced to $125 delivered in U.S. (Will part out if it doesn't sell...) PayPal, US money order or cash accepted.

Options:
$10 IBM 72w AC adapter
$18 20GB 4200 rpm hard drive (w/caddy, no screws)
$25 30GB 4200 rpm hard drive (w/caddy, no screws)
$35 40GB 5400 rpm hard drive (w/caddy, no screws)
$10 IBM/Intel 2100b "b" mini-PCI wifi adapter
$25 IBM/Atheros a/b/g

This machine needs work!

The BAD
-How could a human treat a ThinkPad this way?!
-cover scratches
-shiny keyboard
-worn, slight cracks on palmrest
-GPU problem! Pressure is required for most boot ups. Stays on once boot without pressure, but will die if moved too much.
-FlexView LCD has many bright and dark spots/splotches. It is bright, but far from perfect!!!
-very small crack in bottom of case
-crappy battery
-missing parts (see details below)

The GOOD
-Low cost for T42 FlexView project machine!
-1.7GHz Dothan Pentium M CPU
-long fan
-ATI 9600 64MB video mobo that can be fixed
-USB ports, Ethernet, all ports/connectors work properly
-keyboard is NMB model and works fine
-touchpad works fine
-hinges tight
-LCD bezel and cover not too bad
-includes a copy of T42 XP Pro SP2 recovery disks
-all the screws (except HDD screws) are there!

Reduced to $125 delivered in U.S.

If you're handy with a hair dryer (heat gun), they you can fix the mobo and you'd have a great beater FlexView machine.

If it doesn't sell soon, I will part out.

This would be a perfect upgrade project for anyone with a T41 or a lower-spec'd T42 and a decent upgrade kit for anyone with a T40. A simple motherboard swap and you have either the computer you started with or something faster but with a nicer screen and possibly faster CPU.
