Technically it's still a T60P. Please consider changing the title of your thread to reflect that.

Intel T8300 CPU with T61P Fan and Heatsink (quiet)

Would you mind to elaborate (the more, the better!) what is actually being said "in red" here?? Does your fan e.g. never run or does is only run under heavy CPU and/or GPU load, and in any case what exactly does "quiet" mean? I am potentially interested, but I am very (very!) picky to noise, and in my vocabulary "quiet" meas "no noise" = fan always off (under light use)! Does this hold true?

Also, please specify the condition of the LCD (an ID Tech, correct?); any dust specs, any hairs inside the LCD, any pressure marks or any dead or stuck pixels, and/or any darkening in the corners? For how long has this "T61p" been used? Ooh, I forgot to mention, I am also very picky about displays... so how is it...? :?

Finally: What's the cosmetic condition of this laptop? Scratches, dents etc?

Very tempting "T61p" deal! :-)

On a Frankenpad like this, as long DOA as the seller is willing to grant you... :D

hmmmm... now you got me thinking...

can this be done on a T60p 14.1"... putting a T61p's internals in the T60p's chassis?

Yes this can be done but there is no advantage. The 14" T60p non-widescreen will have the same LCD as the 14" non-widescrren T61p. Since the widescreen's internals will NOT fit a standard resolution ThinkPad.

For me the idea here is the UXGA flexview LCD with a newer motherboard than was ever available from Lenovo. The internals like the seller says are from a T61 so these internals would have been available as a 14" 4:3 T61 ThinkPad.

I could be wrong but I have never seen a 14" 4:3 T61 ThinkPad with more than 128mb of video ram. If one existed then those internals could be used.

I am defining Quiet in this context as much more so than the T60P fan, which is an automatic headache inducer. "Quiet" also means in a competition with hard drive noise, the fan produces less.

The LCD is absolutely flawless, I would have described any such flaws you listed.

The outer cover has the usual scratches from use, no dents. The shell is 2 years old, the internals less than a year.

There's no remaining warranty, but I can guarantee DOA because I'm posting this from said T61P.
