Hi folks,

I broke my T61 monitor out of warranty - I simply want to buy a replacement monitor that I can install on my notebook.

A replacement monitor or a broken T61 with a working monitor would suffice... please let me know if you can help!

Thanks!

What is the machine type/model of the Thinkpad? See the sticker on the bottom. It will look something like 2365-9UY, as an example. Also, have you ever worked inside a Thinkpad before? You may want to follow this thread because I will be replacing an LCD in a T61 tomorrow and documenting the procedure. On one of the last pages of that thread I also link to an EBay auction from a seller (LCD Tech) that has reasonably priced LCD's, the quality of which is TBD.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!!
The machine type is 7662-CTO, I've worked just a bit on it ot replace the RAM and had worked extensively on my dell before this. I just got an LCD from eBay (seller id: screenfast). I will definitely stay posted on your work.. good luck!

Thanks. Meanwhile you may want to peruse the T61 Maintenance manual LCD removal procedure.

All right, I got everything installed and the T61 is good to go again! The new monitor is spot on, can't even tell a difference from my old one. Thanks for the pointers, you're the man.

You're welcome. Our goal is to help folks to experiment and take a chance on repairs that otherwise they might not have attempted. I'm glad it worked out for you.
