It would help if you'd give a price indication for that Shuttle, so folks here can decide if they have a TP of equivalent value.

And what sort of laptop are you looking for?
Screensize, type of LCD, CPU, RAM, HD size, which optical drive?
Luggable, portable or ultra-portable?

Total I bought it for from newegg was $400

As for what I'm looking for, something portable. Doesn't have to be too powerful, but I'd like to get something at least 1ghz, 256mb ram. I desperately need to replace my old 97mhz thinkpad before I start this new job which requires a lot of travel.

Hard drive size isn't really an issue, but I'd like to have one with at least a cd drive.

Trusty and much liked are the T23 and the T30.
The T23 has very few problems, but takes only 2x 512MB RAM.
Several models T23 come with SXGA+ screens (1400x1050), the rest is XGA (1024x768).
Several models T23 also have factory built-in wifi.
CPUs 0.860, 1.00, 1.13 and 1.20 GHz. (PIII-mobile)
Price range $150-240.

The T30 is a bit heavier, but rock solid. Several of them develop a 2nd RAM slot problem, but this can be solved in about 15-30 minutes.
It will then take 2x 1GB RAM.
Only a few models come with SXGA+ screens (1400x1050), the rest is XGA (1024x768).
Almost all T30s come with built-in wifi. Some have a touchpad, some don't.
CPUs between 1.6 and 2.6 GHz (P4-M)
Price range $180-300.

Both have USB 1.1, can take HDs up to 250GB.

Next range is the T40/41/42/43.
I am not too familiar with these, but they are of a newer generation, with USB 2.0, and Centrino chipsets.
Some have problems with graphics (ATI) cards coming loose. Other models with integrated Intel graphics don't have these problems.
Overall a very popular series with some models better liked than others.
Price range $200-450

T60 series is out of your league pricewise, but perhaps you want to swap and pay some extra money?

I would suggest you do some homework and read the 'sticky' posts in the T20/30 and the T40 series forum.

It would definitely help if you 'publish' your wishlist here.
