FWIW, my current poor man's netbook is a M300 with a 20gb HD running Ubuntu. Only disadvantage is the wireless card sticking out of the pcmcia slot.

Incredible price! Is that memory upgrade a 256mb stick of low density PC100? If so, that's worth almost the price you're asking for already!

The M300 also works very well with Ubuntu 8.1. And a Dlink wireless card (not sure of model, but I believe one or more of the 650 versions) works with the Ubuntu supplied drivers. I have a 2 M300s running with Ubuntu 8.1 and 20gb HDs.

I personally think all of them are very good value for the buck. I have a few nibbles, and Im working on the better of the i1300's for a Northern Neighbor, but that it.

Im not going much lower as the Goodwill Local Group are screaming for Laptops. Ill wipe the drives install 2kPro on them and take the Tax Break at full asking price.
Im not messing with FleaBay!

Ron,

I'm thinking about the M300. Seems decent for a travel laptop.

My son is in Tae Kwon Do, the Belt Tests normally last around 2 hours. Some of it is boring as ditch water, this laptop sneaks in perfectly ...and since I set up the wireless for the building, I surf for free. When I first got it the battery would go 2 hours easy. I have not actually timed it lately but I have used it for at least 1 hour nonstop last month. It does include the funky HDD adapter and the correct screws to bolt it in. The edges are all very sharp on the outside, so they need to be touched up occasional or they are silver with the rest of the laptop painted black, but that is the only draw back I have found to it.
I also have a very nice neoprene case I can add in the deal. It only holds the laptop, but very easy to use.

So M300 with the upgraded memory, Docking station with the CD-Rom and case

Let me know

I just noticed you cant send a PM by clicking on the PM button in the post...it takes you to the PM screen but posts in the forum Weird!.

Looks like Ron of dorronto fame and I are working on a trade of sorts for the M300

That got me to thinking that I could use a few things in trade also:
Ultra Bay drives or rails
PC100 or 133 memory
Athlon XP1900 CPU or higher
PC2100 Memory
T23 or T30 batteries
T23 or T30 LCDs
2.5 IDE HDDs (I like 30 or 40 gig)
If you have junk that works, and I have junk that works, perhaps we should swap junk?
