FS: Near mint babied T43 1.86GHz SXGA+ Warranty

#1 Post by GnatGoSplat » Sun Dec 07, 2008 7:48 pm

I am selling my babied Thinkpad T43. The only thing keeping it from being MINT condition is the slight shine on the keyboard and one sticker is now just a blank chrome rectangle (I forget what was on that sticker before).

TYPE: 2668-46U
  • SXGA+ 1400x1050 high resolution LCD. NO dead pixels, NO stuck pixels, NO pressure spots, NO scratches, NO FLAWS WHATSOEVER.
  • 64MB ATI Radeon X300, much faster than onboard graphics, good for many 3D games.
  • Intel Pentium M 750 1.86GHz
  • Originally 512MB, now 1.5GB (uses DDR2, cheap and easy to upgrade).
  • Seagate 80GB Hard Drive
  • CDRW/DVD Combo drive, burns CDs, reads DVDs.
  • Intel 802.11bg wireless(MPCI)
  • Modem(CDC)
  • 1Gb Ethernet(LOM)
  • UltraNav
  • WinXP Pro COA (currently has Vista Ultimate 32-bit installed, but I am willing to change it back to XP SP3 if you prefer).
  • WARRANTY: On-site EasyServ until 3-19-2009
Flawless cosmetics, only signs of use is slight shine on the commonly used keys of the keyboard. NO scratches anywhere. Still even has the plastic protector on the LED indicator on the lid. I don't think this laptop has left my livingroom the whole time I've had it. In my experience, people really stretch the truth when it comes to describing the condition of their laptops, so here are some high-res 1600x1200 pics to prove the beautiful condition of this one.

ISSUES:
It has an OLD BATTERY that dates back to 2004 and gets a POOR rating by the power center. It only lasts about 30-40 minutes.
Seagate 80GB drive is NOT IBM approved. It works perfectly and benchmarks much faster than the original, but there is a nag screen and beep during the boot process that adds 2-3 seconds to the boot time. You do not have to interact with the nag screen as it will continue on its own, although if you press ESC during the nag screen you can cut out that 2-3 second delay.

Comes with the charger.

Price $425+shipping (plus 3% PayPal fees for credit/debit cards). I ship worldwide.

DEDUCT $15 if you prefer the original IBM/Hitachi 40GB drive that does NOT have a nag screen on booting.

Price reduced. If not sold by next Monday it's going on eBay.

T43 has a list of supported drives in BIOS and will display the nag screen (and beep) if you're using an unsupported drive. More info on that here:

It's a minor nuisance, but the beep is pretty loud so I would avoid rebooting the machine during during a class, conference or meeting else you may get un-desired attention. Since I mainly used it for couch surfing, the beep and nag during boot was no problem. I usually used suspend to RAM anyway so I seldom rebooted it.
