T60 SXGA+ FOR SALE

#1 Post by Thomcat » Wed Dec 10, 2008 12:40 am

I picked this up over the weekend at a going-out-of-business office sale. My original intent was to get back in touch with my inner geek and create a triple-boot WinXP, Xubuntu, Mac OSX machine and learn the workings of the latter two OSes. I'm sorry to say that after setting it up with Xubuntu I've since lost the geek passion. That and the fact that my company lends me a new laptop for work every 9 months is removing all desire to continue to 'hobby' with it.

This thing is blindingly fast:

Intel Centrino Duo Core T2300 1.66GHz Processor
2GB RAM
80GB 5400rpm HD
14.1in 1400x1050 LCD (no dead pixels)
64MB ATI Radeon X1300
DVD-ROM
Intel 802.11abg wireless
Bluetooth/Modem
1Gb Ethernet
UltraNav
6-cell Li-Ion battery (holds a good 2 hour charge, but no guarantees)
AC Adapter

Overall the laptop is in relatively good shape with no broken pieces. No shine on the keyboard for those that care about that. The top of the laptop has some age scuffs, but nothing serious. I am a manager in a software company and would not have any issues bringing this into any of my meetings with internal or external executives.

It's currently got the latest version of Xubuntu on it and nothing else. There is a WinXP Pro serial sticker on the bottom and I can install that OS for you if you prefer. The hidden recovery partition is still there I believe as the BIOS says it is active.

The one caveat is that the exact FRU# and serial#s have been wiped by the original company owner for whatever reason. The FRU stickers have also been removed.

I have plenty of references on Heatware as 'Thomcat' and on eBay as 'thomcatvong'. Feel free to message me with any questions. Local Manhattan users are welcome to check out this unit in person.

Price is $600 shipped. I accept Paypal.

Note that I will be out of town next week for work. I will be checking email and PMs, but if not sold by December 12, I will not be able to ship out until the week of December 22.

Happy Holidays everyone,
Thomas

I've installed XP Pro SP3 on it now, upgraded the bios and installed all drivers.

This is definitely more computer than I need for putzing around the linux command line.

For those interested in upgrading their existing Thinkpad(s), I'm also open to a trade of a nice T43 with 14" SXGA 1400x1050 lcd plus cash as well.

If you have XP on it now, you can go to Lenovo's site and look up model and waranty status.

Link to lookup model - Click on Auto-detect this system

Link to lookup warranty status - You'll probably sell it faster if it has warranty remaining.

Hm...installed the activeX auto-detect thing on the Lenovo site and nothing came up.

Still for sale.

Are T43s the only trades you're looking for? I may have a 15" SXGA+ Flexview R51 as a partial trade option.

Ok, now I'm serious about selling the T60. Here's my NO RESERVE auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Thinkpad-T60-1-66gh ... 240%3A1318

If for some reason the link doesn't work, search for Thinkpad T60 1400x1050 with the listing name by 'thomcatvong'. Thanks.

Your ebay link isn't working for me.

Maybe this one will.

Thank you Joe. I appreciate it. If anyone wants to buy it for $600, I'll end the auction and ship it for free.
