[AUS/Intl] X60 Tablet 1.83,2G/100G,SXGA+,Base+combo,extras

#1 Post by rek » Fri Jan 02, 2009 6:15 am

As things have turned out, I have needed a "transportable" rather than an "ultraportable" over the last while, so the Z has been everywhere and the X Tablet hasn't seen much of any use..

Note that as per the model-type number, this was originally specified with a XGA Multitouch display. However I have since retrofitted it with an SXGA+ panel for the better resolution and screen clarity. It's an easy and straight swap, and should you really want, the Multitouch panel can go right back in.

The warranty lookup isn't working at the moment for me, but I believe it has coverage up until some time in 2010. Please note however that with the SXGA+ panel retrofit, this will have some implication on the warranty's validity for screen related issues. (PM me for the serial number)

The thing I love about this machine is that it's so quiet. I am very picky when it comes to computer noise, and this is one of the best laptops I've ever owned in this regard. The hard disk is easily the quietest I've had, and the cpu fan doesn't come on very often - and when it does, it adds nothing over the hard disk. Between the quietness and the Flexview display, I'll probably regret selling this a year or two down the track.. :)

Specs:

X60 Tablet (6363-86U)
1.83GHz L2500 Core Duo
2GB RAM (2x 1GB DIMMs)
100GB 7200rpm hard disk
SXGA+ (1400x1050) Flexview display
Bluetooth
Intel a/b/g wireless
Fingerprint Reader
8-cell battery
AC adapter
WinXP Tablet 2005 - COA sticker and recovery partition is intact

Condition:

External plastics, keyboard, etc. are excellent. Palm rest is new.

There are one or two extremely faint scratches in a couple of screen corners, no more than a centimetre or so long. (You need to turn the computer off and shine a torch on the screen to see them.) They're in the very corners so they are absolutely unnoticeable in normal use, be it viewing the screen or even using the stylus. No dead pixels.

Battery is in excellent condition. 89 cycles, 66.24 design/70.25 (!) actual capacity, confirmed with a recent battery gauge reset.

Extras:
  • A spare stylus, with another set of spare tips.
  • A spare X60 series keyboard.
  • UltraBase (no keys unfortunately) with a DVDROM/CDRW combo drive in it. This all works fine, though you need to really press the CD tray in for the latch to hold (it's always been like this)
  • The original XGA Multitouch display panel I removed to make way for the SXGA+ panel.
  • A Crumpler Skivvy 12" (small) satchel/case. Light brown colour like in the pic in the link, but with a gray inside instead of orange. A perfect fit for the X60t and 8-cell battery.
Pictures:

I will take some and upload them soon.

Price/Payment/Shipping:

1000 USD / 1400 AUD, plus postage (your choice of shipping option/insurance/customs/etc.) Moneybookers for international buyers, bank deposit for Australian buyers.

I am in Australia, but am happy to ship anywhere in the world at actual postal cost. I have the original Lenovo boxes for the laptop so it will be well packed for its journey.

As for references, I've bought (or sold) laptops with Syed J, KristianJ, and Nickolai on the forum.

If you are a Flexview packrat, you may be interested in a second SXGA+ LCD panel with digitiser, freshly refurbished, that I bought recently. Add 200 USD if you want this as well (it cost me about 300 USD to buy and ship it here..)[/list]

Going by what I've read on the forums, where user replacement of non-CRUs is concerned, the warranty of the assembly affected by the modification is voided. i.e. for something like this, the warranty would be void for any screen-related ("top-half") issues, but the "bottom half" would still be covered. So, say the screen bezel started cracking - that wouldn't be covered, but if the keyboard or USB port died, that would be. I have never had to really test a Lenovo warranty though; in my few experiences with them, the service people here in Australia are only too eager to fix things it seems :)

The warranty itself is on-site service - the laptop was purchased in the USA. Screenshot of warranty page, and battery health meter:

AC adapter isn't photographed, but I assume you know what one looks like :)

BTW -- for anyone overseas that is interested in this laptop -- the old XGA Multitouch LCD panel pushes the package weight over 5kg, which bumps the international postage rate to the next tier. At your option I can leave it out of the parcel, and give it to another forum member for the cost of postage only.
