Not including shipping.
The red one works for X40/X41 which use 1.8'
The green one is suitable for all others laptop which use 2.5' HDD

The green one is for 2.5" hd and the red one is for 1.8" hd. You can see that by looking at the pics. The x40/41 uses a smaller hd.

And this enables you to replace your HD with a CF card?

Yes. from what i read, sometimes it's easy and other times it's more difficult. I haven't tried it myself........yet.

I own a green one (similar to your display), and after removing the 60GB HDD, the green one fits vertically in my X41 and is plug compatible, with the memory card under it.
The small red one in your display would not be plug compatible with this X41 model 2525-E2U.
