I have been thinking about selling my loved T40 and buying a used T60, or something from the outlet store.

Specs:
T40
2373-75U
14" XGA
Motherboard: I got it as a replacement directly from Lenovo last summer. The model type of the new motherboard is 2374-PU2. I am not sure whether it was a refurb, system pull, or new. Either way it does not have any flexing\ati gpu issues whatsoever.
Radeon 7500
PM 1.5ghz
1.25ghz ram (Added 1gb corsair lifetime warranty)
Hitachi 40gb (Recovery partition intact)
IBM FRU Atheros ABG Card (upgraded from cisco aironet 350)

Batteries:
Panasonic 6 cell (Lasts about 2 hours, 15 cycles!)
I have done complete cycles on it, and the power meter is still very inaccurate, when it estimates about 1.5 hours left, it suddenly drops to 20 minutes. Not sure why, but overall it lasts about 2 hours.

Sanyo 6 cell (lasts about 45 min 380 cycles)

Some cosmetic issues:
The left arrow key-two clips hold the key down, one top and bottom, The bottom one is damaged, so if you press the very top of the key it "flips" up. The key stays attached and is fine if you press it in the usual spot in the middle. The key is still very usable.

When I was replacing the WiFi Card, I accidentally put a small crack in the palmrest right in the middle under the touchpad. I didn't even notice it for a few days, it is very minor and the machine is still structurally sound.

one dead pixel (I didnt notice it until I ran a program the tests for them).

The Lid has the usual average amount of scratches, etc. I'd rate it an 8/10.

I see these type of systems selling for around $175, but given the relatively new motherboard without any BGA issues, Atheros card, and condition, what would mine be worth?

Would $225 be asking too much?

I think you can ask that amount, but you might have to settle for a little less if it doesn't sell fast enough for you. I would also include pictures.

A few of notes;
-the fact that you have used the machine for a long while without any GPU or USB errors is a bonus
-the mobo that was used as a replacement wasn't necessarily "new" especially if it has another model number in the BIOS, it may have been from a used machine, IBM reuses parts
-your signature lists a 60GB drive with the machine, but you listed 40GB, perhaps you're keeping the 60GB?

Which COA sticker(s) are on the machine would be good to include, as well as whether you'll be including the Vista DVD with the machine.
