FS: x40/41/41t SSD installing service.

#1 Post by legbone » Wed Mar 04, 2009 12:19 pm

Hi. Anybody wants your x40/41/41t fulfill their maximum performances?

I'm currently using x41 with Mtron SSD 32GB and it is super fast, free of freezing and free of HDD spinning noise.
For those of who want to upgrade your x40/41/41t, I can change your HDD to SSD.

Mtron SSD is super fast and it shows 75mb/s which is 3~4 times faster than Hitachi 1.8'' 4200rpm HDD.
I'm using T42p also but with the daily use, X41 with SSD feels faster than T42p 1.8GHz, 2GB, Samsung 160HC HDD.
SSD will boost your X40/41/41t up and make it super fast. You won't regret!!

Here's the deal.
This is the procedure we are taking.
1. Choose between 16G($129.99.ebay) and 32G($169.99/ebay).
2. You send me your HDD with the SSD or only your SSD or laptop only(I'll purchase the SSD instead of you).
2-1. If you know how to change the HDD, just send me you HDD or SSD or together. I'll make the zif to ide adapter available with the SSD with the full recovery from your HDD.
3. I make a full copy of your HDD to the SSD.
4. I'll send you back with or without(subtract some fee in this case) the HDD from your laptop.

Feel free to ask me about service charge for that.

Just out of curiosity: Which specific MTRON SSD (model numbers, kindly with direct link to detailed specifications - thanks!) are we talking about here? With reference to the (although non-"X", but still PATA SSD) thread SSD PATA 44-Pin for T4x certain older MLC (Multi-Level Cell) SSD's are unsuitable for NTFS OS' such as Windows XP while SLC's (Single-Layer Cell) SSD's are better suited. Potential buyers might want to know what the get before spending 100+ dollars...

PS: Potential "buyers" of the service offered here might also wish that you provide some references... your limited number of posts on this forum taken into consideration.

Mtron SLC Pata Mobi 3018 which access time, reading and writing is very stable and fast.
Refer to the following link.
Link: http://www.mtron.net/English/Product/Pr ... D-PATA3018
This ssd is zif type, so I'll use the proper zender(zif to ide) and make some change for the zender usable.
If you have any question, feel free to PM me.

Thanks.

I'm interested as I have an X40 and a couple of X41 tablets and although I've bought some of the ZIF to IDE adapters I'm not sure I have the time to figure out the details of getting things working - however I'm a little unclear on a couple of things:

1) what exactly would you be charging for the service?
2) I can easily transfer the disk images over using Acronis True Image - is there anything special about transfering the disk image onto a SSD?
3) if I can transfer the drive content myself is there some way to get the adapted SSD without me having to ship a heavy tablet back and forth? Is installing the SSD physically into the thinkpads difficult or do they just slide into the drive bay?
4) how much were you offering as a credit for leaving you with the old 1.8" PATA drives? These seem to be going for around $50 per 20GB on eBay and as the supply is limited there does seem to be a firm demand for them. The two tablets have 60GB drives in them and I might be willing to give those up but I'd want something close to what these go for on eBay.

Thanks!
