LF: Dutch Jenever/Genever Gin
Does anyone know of a supplier/importer of Dutch "Jonge Jenever", also spelled "Jonge Genever"?
It's further known as "Geneva Gin" or "Hollands gin", or "Schiedam-style gin".
I'm looking for brands like Bols, Bokma, Oliphant, De Kuyper, Ketel One, Hooghoudt, Zuidam.
I am NOT interested in Boomsma, which seems to be available in some places, but is undrinkable.
There's also a USA product which I would like to try: Anchor Distilleries "Genevieve Genever Gin".
Preferably an outfit in Pennsylvania.
Or if you have a shop nearby where you live, where you can get it, let me know too, please.
Thanks for any info.

And I found this: http://www.bevmo.com/Shop/ProductDetail ... ctID=29545
BevMo is a local chain. There's two within 6 miles of me. Also it looks like shipping via USPS is not allowed; FedEx and UPS appear to have regulations prohibiting shipping alcohol between private parties (i.e., unlicensed) but that doesn't seem to be a federal violation.
ref: http://www.usps.com/aviationsecurity/ ("Other items, such as alcoholic beverages (beer, wine, liquor), are not considered hazardous but are prohibited and boxes displaying such markings are also prohibited.")

@Harryc: you seem to have hit the jackpot, thanks! They ship to PA!
@rkawakami: I am aware of the shipping limitations, although I don't see any reason for it.
CA seems to have everything, PA is left out dry
I've been after this stuff now for several weeks and have run into a brick wall until now!
Searched everywhere but probably with the wrong search-words....
I even found some importers, but so far nobody has bothered to answer my queries.
Perhaps there are similar stores in Philly or Pittsburgh, would save on shipping costs!

Hello,
I am dutch
and willing to support here.
Since I am also not real sure on the how to,
maybe we should discuss this on what your needs are exactly,
so I can inform myself with our postal office on their expectancies about shipping costs and legal
matters between this region of the world and yours.
Anyways, nice to understand someone appreciates that stuff since I really can't stand it anymore after my 'studying days'
So contact me via vitalae@gmail.com and we will take it from there.
Kind regards,
eelco

Love to ship it to you. But the simple fact is, no food and or drinks can be shipped from The netherlands to america. I'm SURE there is an importer of Jonge graanjenever in america.

being emptied by the truck drivers?rkawakami wrote:One word.... taxes. That, and I guess the possibility of the liquid contents being emptied in transit.
Today's packing material will let you ship anything without breaking.
Bottles of wine can be shipped almost worldwide, so why not a bottle of spirits? Properly packed blabla...
And a word to the kind Dutch members:
as Toine already mentioned, shipping of alcohol is not allowed from Holland to the USA.
I have relatives in Holland, who would be happy to ship it to me by the crate if I wanted. It's Uncle Sam who says NO
Thank you for your kind offers anyway!
Even between some States within the United States, transport of spirits (say from California) is only allowed to another State Liquor Store of your choice (say in Pennsylvania). That way PA can be certain to rape me for taxes.
And this transport is only possible between ca. 33 out of the 50 States.
What an utterly daft system!

Re: LF: Dutch Jenever/Genever Gin
There is a US website: www.bolsgenever.com with an importer mentioned in San Francisco.
I wrote to the lady in question (the "importer" is only a one-woman-band) about 10 days ago, no answer.
Another one: www.zuidam.com with importer in Chicago. Still waiting...
Both of them are not my favorites, but I'll take what I can get (other than the Boomsma pis-du-chat).
