WTB 755CD!

#1 Post by format13 » Mon Mar 09, 2009 12:12 am

I have been trying for a while now to track down a 755CD. It is mostly for nostalgic purposes. It is the computer that got me into a hobby/career that has been the focus of most of my life.

Would like a good working, good looking, 755CD Laptop.

Let me know whats out there!

Thank you. :)

my little collection has the more rare of the 755 series..
a 755CDV..

same as the 755CD except the back of the top comes off so the display can be used with an overhead projector..

the list price at the time was about $8k..
i sold a used one at that time (many years ago) for $5k to a fellow in canada..

those were the days my friend, we thought they'd never end, we'd sing and dance forever and a day.. :parrot:

Since starting my little endevour, I had read about the CDV's. Very interesting! Why so expensive?? Just for collection purposes, or were they really that much more functional?

the CDV was a fully loaded 755CD..
with the trick top..
and it came with a big fan to cool it while the overhead projector was creating heat..
and a few other accessories particular to the CDV..

this was IBM's response to business people who needed this capability..
now it is obsolete with those small and relatively cheap projectors..

i see that my post was a little misleading as to the used price..
i just corrected it..

Would you have any interest in a 755CE? I have one of those that works very well (except for the battery) and looks okay (screen and keyboard are great; outside case does show some minor wear and moderate scratching).

If you're interested, PM me and I can send details.
