I've managed to crack my screen and so the laptop is now sold, but I still have the original 6 cell battery forsale. I'm new on this forum (as this is my first thinkpad) but I have plenty of experience trading online - see heatware, beerology, and ebay feedback under oshelef.
Original 6 cell battery for thinkpad x300 and x301. $80 shipped

Thinkpad x300 with cracked LCD $500 shipped
Model: 6476
Returned from thinkpad warranty service because the crack is apparently my fault. No damage to anything else, or any visible marks on the laptop. Everything else is still under factory warranty until December 09. Best that I can tell, that means no damage to the bezel, frame, or otherwise. Of course, I haven't looked inside.
64gb SSD, 4gb ram
wifi, bluetooh, fingerprint reader, webcam
Vista Ultimate (fresh factory image).
This is an excellent deal for someone who wants to repair the screen. I should have had complete care.
I'm willing to part it out if there are buyers for enough of the parts. This is such a great laptop that I've already replaced it. If I had the time and knowledge, I would have done the repair myself.
To clarify: The parts below (batteries, ac adapter) are not included in the above price. If you want those parts, you can add them to the price. Everything else the laptop originally came with is included.
