I picked up two Ibm's today in a lot of laptops....1 is a R40...I get nothing from it...no beep codes, no nothing.
second one is a R32...Lcd is missing, but it does slowly go into bios after which it brings some error message that flashes so quick I cant read it all...something about a PCI error?
No harddrive or carrier in either.
$40.00 each plus shipping......these are to be considered for parts only!

The R40 will not power on at all if there is no RAM in it. I found this out when I got my R40 off ebay for $60.00. Once RAM is in it, it will power on and screen will display IBM ThinkPad logo and got to No Operating system page.

Does the lights come on?
Also try to leave on the AC Adapter for a day. I had a IBM ThinKPad 380Z that didn't do nothing and left on AC and it powered on fine the next day.

All lights light up when buttom is pushed then only the battery charge and power

May have a loose connection somewhere on board.

Yeah maybe, or maybe its a bad motherboard...I heard these had a lot of trouble.
