Looks that way unless you don't mind paying through the nose. Lowest price I've seen so far is $172.

If you want just the SXGA+ panel and you are willing to take a small chance, then also search for T21 systems which have the 850Mhz processor (2647-5AU or 2647-9AU, for examples) and T22s with the 1Ghz CPU (2647-5CU or 2647-9CU). Those systems shipped with the 1400x1050 screen from the factory. Of course there's no guarantee that somebody didn't swap it out (i.e., downgraded to the XGA display), but I've had very good luck with finding cheap systems off of eBay that still have serviceable LCDs. Most private sellers don't know the difference between the two panels. Careful questioning about the type number, the information in the Windows Display Properties Settings tab or a clear screenshot or two can ascertain whether or not it's an XGA or SXGA+. Relying on just pictures can be tricky however. As an example,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0325394646

appears to show a 850Mhz T21 (2647-9AU) but the description says it has an "XGA" panel. Looking at the first picture of the system that appears to be true (desktop icon size and spacing are typical of an XGA screen). However, the last picture seems to be correct for an SXGA+ screen (the size of the Windows Start button in relation to how far it extends over the left-side hinge). Note that the Windows desktop is different between the two (Windows XP style vs. "Classic" style) so these may not even be the same laptop. Given that this seller was also offering this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0325142868

a T21 2647-4AU with a 850Mhz CPU (not the factory 800Mhz), using the identical pictures (except for the BIOS screen), I'd be sure to ask more questions before believing everything in the auction description.

What is the exact make/model of your SXGA+ screen? (e.g. Samsung, Hitachi, LG-Philips...LTN141... or similar)
Should be on a label on the back.
And what are the IBM P/N and FRU?

Is this question for me? If so, I can't answer you... I haven't (yet) dismantled down to that point. I may have to if I decide to take up someone's offer of a panel. Price seems fair, but I have to admit to some trepidation taking on the swap job having seen the drill. BTW, where's Mt. Cobb? I'm writing this from E. Stroudsburg.

Yes that question is for you.

(Do I gather you want me to do the swap?)

Get onto I-80 West, turn onto I-380 North (direction Scranton/Binghamton), then turn onto I-84 East (direction Milford), and take Exit 8 (Mt. Cobb/Hamlin).
From there it's ca. 2.5 miles to my house. (guess it's about 25 miles from E-Stroudsburg)

Never occurred to me, but go on... what's your pitch?

That's 'cause I live in NYC. I post from PA when I'm at my house in the Poconos.
