Hi all,

A friend of mine will visit the US next week. I want him to buy for me a new laptop (dv5,6 of HP or thinkpad t400 of lenovo). It would cost to $1000.

CPU Core 2 Duo Pxxxx
14'
Dedicated Video card

Could you guys please tell me which website or store he can buy that laptop with a good price (not eBay please!).
Very appreciated if you guys could help.
Thanks.

I've found this one, but I'm wondering if this is a good deal for one "Open Box"?

It's unlikely you will find a ThinkPad in a store. They're not sold that way mostly. You'd need to buy a pre-configured model because it'll take too long to build/ship if you're fined is only here a week. There are tons of websites where you can get a T400 like NewEgg, Amazon, Buy.com, etc. You'll also need a way to pay for it. Most US retailers won't accept a foreign bank issued credit cards and you can't send cash over the internet. If you're friend can get access to one and has somewhere to ship it then that becomes an option. You can get a dv5 or dv6 by walking into most electronics retailers or Wal-Mark, but you'll probably get better prices online. Also there's some sellers here, who are much better than eBay and are more than willing to ship overseas if you don't mind the extra time it takes to get it with the payment and shipping issues.
