Hi all

I am in need of a newer thinkpad to replace my old X22 which is a little slow for what i need these days

is there anyone, preferably in the UK but if in US then i will be paying for a courier to collect and deliver to me that is selling a thinkpad of some sort?

the only restrictions really are that it has built-in wireless

many thanks

Yes I think I could cover that. Sending PM.

That <$200.- would limit you to the T23 with built-in wifi or a barebones T30.
I could accommodate you on both types.
PM me if interested.

You just might be able to pull it off with an R51 barebones. I'd be looking on Ebay/craigslist or similar for one of those in UK.

I bought one for a friend in January on Ebay for $190 shipped. Of course the motherboard went out not long after, but that's bad luck I suppose. I ended up swapping in a MB+ base I bought for $30 and it was still cheap.

No... prices are plummeted recently, at least around here. You could pull of a decent T42. I don't know the situation in the UK.

For example:

This is buy it now. You can do better, bidding with patience, something decent will go out for under $200.

Not to put down the beautiful T23/T30, but you can get a P4 level machine with USB 2.0 for $200 nowadays.

Well, the battery is only holding a 30 min full charge so add another $60 for a new one! With a battery, shipping, time and grief you're looking at more like $300.

Many thanks for the replies people

the situation in the uk isnt too bad, but the majority of the 'cheaper' ones tend to have things missing, i'm going to have a look for a barebones one on ebay and probably put up a wanted for the missing parts (usually drive caddys/ac adapters/batteries etc)

cheers

Brummie:

Be careful buying barebones units unless you have all the parts. It can end up being more expensive that just buying a complete laptop up-front (the voice of bitter experience).
