FS: IBM TransNote - FULLY LOADED - FULLY FUNCTIONAL!

#1 Post by hionhifi » Mon Apr 27, 2009 3:43 pm

Hello, we have an excellent condition IBM TransNote 2675 for sale. It features many upgrades, and comes with all factory manuals, and disks. It is fully loaded with DVD-Rom, USB Floppy Disk Drive, Upgraded RAM, USB Multi-Port, and many other features listed below.

It has been very well taken care of and has been in storage for a couple of years now. It is fully functional, and the battery holds a nice charge.

The TransNote looks and operates nicely. It actually was used very sparingly when it was used so it doesn't have many hours on it. Maybe 100 or so.

Have alook at the specs, accessories, manuals, and disks.

The TransNote comes with many IBM branded factory extra accessories:
  • DVD-Rom (IDE PC Card) w/upright holster, & power adapter
  • External USB Floppy Disk Drive
  • Multi-Port USB Hub w/USB Cord & power adapter
  • DVD-Rom Carrying Case
  • Floppy Disk Drive Carrying Case
  • (3) IBM ThinkPad Note Pads
  • Floppy Disk Drive Carrying Case
It is a standard Right Handed IBM TransNote with a couple of upgrades. Here are the specs:
  • 327 MB RAM
  • 9.36 GB HD
  • 56 Modem
  • Intel PRO 10/100 NIC
  • Flip Touch Display
  • ThinkPad Configuration Console
  • Right Handed
  • Pen
Here is a list of included manuals, etc that come with the unit:
  • Ink Manager Pro 1.0 and ThinkScribe Digital Notepad User's Guide
  • ThinkPad TransNote Service and Troubleshooting Guide
  • Getting Started Microsoft Windows 98 User Guide
  • All manuals for accessories listed above
  • ThinkPad DVD Express CD
  • ThinkPad Configuration Console
  • Multi-Port USB Hub Option
  • Software Selections CD
  • The Driver for IBM ThinkPad USB Portable Diskette Drive
  • IBM ThinkPad Recovery CD-Rom Boot Diskette
  • Product Recovery CD-ROM (disk 1 & 2)
  • Lotus Smart Suite Software 9.5
  • IBM TransNote Getting Started Guide
Now your probably wondering what I asking for it. Well based on this forum link http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... =transnote, indicates that this may go in the $400 - 500 range...based on that...

I'll part with it for $350 shipped or best offer. Ships within 24 hours of payment.

PM me if interested, or give me a call. Thanks so much for looking.

Welcome to the forum, Thomas!

For those of us who don't quite know what a TransNote looks like there is a nice collection of images --> here.

PS: The first 9 links for some reason don't work, but from "transnote1.jpg" and on, most of the rest are displayed OK.

I don't want to spoil your thread, but the price you refer to, is from a thread from two years ago!
You may want to reconsider....

Yeah, I hate to be a stick in the mud, but the two completed sales on eBay have the same model going for $80 and another for $130. Personally, if I had the cash to spend on it, I'd drop as much as $140, maybe $150 if you offered quicker shipping. Sorry.

To those who referred to the eBay IBM TransNote being sold, on the grounds that my IBM TransNote is over priced. I believe we are not talking apples to apples. It's all in the details.

Firstly, the IBM TransNote that sold on eBay for $130 on April 26, 2009 has the following description
The computer will power up and will go into the BIOS, however will not boot the operating system.

Instead, it shows a blue screen with the error "The file vga.sys is corrupted." (see picture)

This item is untested and is being offered AS/IS for Parts or Repair.
Furthermore, this particular TransNote does not have ANY of the extra's that mine comes with. Namely the USB Hub, Floppy Drive, DVD Drive, Extra Notepads, and other items.

Mine is fully operational, comes with extras, and can be used 100%, not just for parts.

Secondly, the other IBM TransNote being sold on Ebay which sold on April 21 for $90, does not come with AC Adapter, No Hard Drive or Caddy, Optical Drive, Floppy Drive, OS, and it seems the keys get stuck at times.

Again, not an Apples to Apples comparison.

The IBM TransNote I am selling is in excellent condition, and is fully operational.

Even still, based on the response I've received, I have updated the TransNote with a new price, and offer faster shipping. Thanks for looking.

Oh and next time guys... Do your e-search.

The original poster (hionhifi) last signed into the forum July 2009. My guess is "no".
The thread hijacker (vinnikiniki) last signed into the forum August 2009. My guess is "no" on that one too.

I also have a fully operational Transnote. The cap on the pen is a little chewed up, but it otherwise works great. No DVD or floppy, bit it does have the vinyl right handed case/folio and the battery even works. It has 384 RAM and is running XP on a 40 gig hard drive with the IBM Ink Manager pro software running flawlessly. All the internal batteries work, in addition to the main battery. In other words it keeps time well. It did sort of hiccup on me a couple months ago but I replaced the hard drive, reset the BIOS, and all has worked well since.

I am not sure what to charge for it, and not really sure I want to sell it. I would consider a trade for a different vintage Thinkpad perhaps. No collection is complete without one of these and I have not seen one for sale on eBay in a long time.

i have a couple and i really wish they could make a modern day equivalent. You can even touch the screen with your finger and get good responses (as long as you don't want to be too precise...) i would use mine today if it wasn't for the fact that they both need batteries ( 1 lasts 20 minutes, the other is dead) and cmos batteries ( don't exist anymore)
