LF: a barebone 15in T4x machine

I'm thinking about upgrading my parents' old A22m that's long in the tooth now. Since I have a bunch of spare parts laying around, all I need is an actual machine. Because they're older people, I'd would like a 15in T4x system, doesn't have to be a P model. The machine MUST be in good working condition and have no issues, especially no GPU issue. Screen has to be decent without scratches or white spots. Case doesn't have to be mint but no major damage please. No 14inchers and no non-Thinkpads.

Strictly optional parts: power supply, battery, processor, RAM, CPU, wireless card. I would prefer a hard disk of some sort but it's not absolutely necessary. I do need an optical drive though, DVDROM at least. Let me know what you have and how much you are looking for with shipping in USA. I can pay cash or do partial trade + cash since I have quite a few of various Thinkpad and Apple Macbook pieces laying around.

They are not very common. They were not introduced until T42. Are you looking for a high-res (SXGA or higher) or XGA. There are lots more R5x 15" machines. One thing you might consider is an R60 or R60e. If you don't need the docking station port, the R60e offers good value, but some of them come with Celeron or Core solo processors, which you might want to avoid.

Got a T43 (2687-D4U) will be here Tuesday. 15", needs HD and a fan which will be here bout then too. Let me get it in and check it out. Bought it mainly because I have lots of Tx parts lying around and thought I'd play with it, but 15" is really too big for me to use as a portable, and I have desktops with bigger screens all around.

I've got two proper IBM 40gig drives so no 2010 errors, and it comes with a DVD drive (but I have an extra too if that one isn't up to snuff.

Should know something midweek if you'd be interested in it. Just LMK.

R6x would require some parts for servicing that I do not have. Also, it's too new. My parents don't need a very fast late-model system, more like something to do basic browsing, email-checking, spreadsheet and occasional DVD watching. Also, a Celeron is too slow but a P-M or a Core Solo they can live with. I'm thinking they're also better off with XGA since it makes letters on the screen larger but SXGA+ could work too since I can adjust the resolution. Altogether, I'd rather stick with the T-series since from my experience they seem to be better built and designed than R-series.
