FS:Mint Panasonic ToughBook Y5, 14" SXGA+, 3.7lbs, rare

My $0.02:

First of all, I know that this forum may be an odd place to post a ToughBook for sale. Nevertheless, I'd prefer this machine finding a good home with a forum member...

A beautiful and unusual piece of engineering which will not be to everyone's liking. The best non-ThinkPad laptop I've ever used, by a huge margin.

This particular machine shows virtually NO signs of use, easily a 9.75 on a 1-10 scale. It has been upgraded to 1GB (2x512MB) of RAM and a brand new 160GB/5400rpm HDD. The only way you'll find a nicer CF-Y5 is to buy one that hasn't been taken out of the box yet, and I'm being perfectly serious here. An extremely nice LCD for a non-IPS unit, beats pretty much any other TN panel I've ever seen. Extremely intuitive-if unusual-touchpad. Overall, a very, very serious machine. Lightweight, deceptively fast, extremely quiet and should give an exemplary battery life for a unit of this size. Mandriva 2009 which I currently have installed reports that battery holds a full charge, and an expected runtime of just under 6 hours with wireless on.

Laptop will be shipped in the original box, with all the accessories and documentation including original XP Pro recovery media, COA is intact.

Once I figure out how to check the warranty status I'll post the results here. For now, feel free to assume that the machine has no warranty remaining, but will come with a DOA warranty from myself.

These machines are fairly rare hence it's extremely difficult to properly evaluate their current value. I'm asking $725 for this thing of beauty which is a lot less than anyone else on the web who can actually sell you one. Trades and reasonable offers are always welcome, and I have no problem shipping this fine laptop almost anywhere in the world.

Feel free to PM me for high-resolution pictures (which will inevitably be a waste of my time and yours, since this laptop looks as good as in any brochure) or with any questions/concerns that you might have.
