Want to trade 72W power adapter for 56W X-series adapter

#1 Post by Reboot » Wed May 13, 2009 12:16 am

I have a surplus of IBM 72W power adapters at the moment, and would like to get a small-size 56W to match my X30 when I travel light. Looking for genuine IBM/Lenovo. Anyone want to swap?

I don't think that the power supplies are proportional in size to the wattage.

I have a small 72w adapter that I use with my x22 that is smaller than my 56w adapter.

Also, there are (at least) two different sized 56w adapters. A 'normal' and slim line.

My 770ED shipped with the normal sized one. A year later picked up a 600E and it shipped w/ the slim line one.

I have a 56W 3.36A. It weighs 12 oz and is missing the power cord (this uses the 3 prong cord with the "mickey mouse" end). FRU 02K7007, this is the short stubby one. It arrived with one of my many used purchases, but I only use 72W with T43's, and I am selling off all my older TP's. Let me know if you are interested. I think you can get another power cord at a hardware store.

I'm not very familiar with all these, but I think there are at least four styles of 56W adapter. A old large one, a shorter one like Mike has, a narrower one that started around the the 600E (I know my 600E came with one), and an even smaller one that shipped with some X-series. That last one is what I'm looking for.

Is this one it?

Labeled as "Ultraportable", the P/N 02K6880 FRU 02K6814 seems to be slightly smaller than my usual 56W adapters.

There may be a couple different versions, but yes, that's it.
