Hello,

I have a working 570 (missing hard drive) and a "parts" 570, as well as some accessories, that I would like to sell if there is anyone still interested in that model.

Post a reply if you are interested, thanks !

I'm sure that someone would be interested if you posted a price, which also happens to be a Marketplace rule...

Yep, email me or list what you have. Got a dusty old p2 366 570 that I wouldn't mind tinkering with again if accessories and items are cost effective.

Edit: I'm also in Northern California (Berkeley/SF).

I'm happy to do so, I just wanted to make sure that someone was interested before I spent time making a list...

The likelihood is that if you make the list along with asking prices (with an OBO attached in case you're not sure how much you should get for them), you'll get people interested. The fact is, as George pointed out, that all for sale listings and expressions of interest must include an asking price.

I am very disappointed in the members of this Forum.

NOT because there is no interest in my 570 stuff - I expected that.

I am disappointed because I first asked whether there was any interest, and you were so desperate to be officious busybodies that you made me go through an hour or two of work of identifying and researching for nothing.

I hope your are really happy that enforcing your pointless rule wasted my time.

Am i missing something.....
First you asked if there was any interested in a old 570 and stuff.

I reply was made saying if you post a list with prices there was a good chance you would get PM's on it.
I don't see any list with prices , just you complaining "WE" (forum members) made your wast your time.

Is there not another rule against bumping ?

That is why you do not see the list with prices.

"Bumping", is the act of intentionally forcing your thread to the top of the list when no significant changes have been made to the details of the message. If you were asked to provide additional details, nobody is going to cite the bumping rule. You also should have the option of editing your initial post to include the new information so that anyone entering the conversation will see all of the details upfront, instead of having to search through the entire post to find all of the relevant information.

And that is why he did not see the separate original list of 570 laptops and accessories because it is now down several pages.

My original point of this morning still stands.

I just looked and seen your other post you made for the 570 and parts. It was made on may 16th.

So 10 days later and it don't sell and you say the forum members made you wast your time.
Not everything people puts up for sale will sell in the mater of days.

Well, you probably should have put the list in this thread instead of starting off another one. Also, there's a three day bumping rule; you were lucky to get away with the two two-day bumps you did. Your last post to the other thread was made six days ago which means you had the opportunity to bump it twice more. If it's down in the thread index, that's not the fault of the other members here.

As SaberX said, not everything listed here in the Marketplace is going to go like it might on eBay.

As I said:

I posted the original post in this thread, because I expected that a 570 is now too old and far down in the pecking order to be of any interest.

The zero point zero response to my 570 items FS thread indicates that I was right. However, instead of saying " 570 ? Way too old for anyone to be interested any more. " , which would have been the helpful response, several people implied I should spend the time to identify, categorize and research the items and post them in this Forum.

Well, between you and me, yes, a 570 system is pretty old. But that may not matter to somebody who needs some parts or wants to play with one, as long as it's affordable (in the buyer's eyes). I also don't think you should have expected people to publicly say, "don't bother". In fact, if they did, they probably would have been reprimanded for posting such a negative comment.

You can't expect to get the response in this type of forum like you might if you listed this on eBay. The population of the "audience" here can't be compared. Plenty of eBay sellers can post a one line description without any picture and sell the item without too much trouble. The Thinkpad enthusiasts here need (and mostly expect) some detailed information about what's being offered.

I just searched the completed listings on eBay for 570 systems and found a great range of prices: $19 to $120 (shipping costs included). So there is still some interest in these older systems. If you apply the small amount of work that you did in documenting your system's status then that still can be used elsewhere (eBay, craigslist, your local computer store bulletin board, etc.).
