Disregard the original post content at the end - I was frustrated when I posted it - but I'm leaving it for the record. However, I still do need some service.

If someone has a FUNCTIONING programmer for the EDID ROM on a QXGA panel, I'd like to send my panel to you to reprogram it. I'll pay $25 plus shipping both ways. US only, please, unless there's nobody in the US with a working programmer.

ORIGINAL POST CONTENT FOLLOWS:

Here's the deal. I have the panel, I have the laptop.

Once I get my laptop back from Solectr^WFlextronics (it's gotta get shipped out tomorrow to them,) I'll ship it to you. (It being "both the laptop AND the LCD," you being "whoever has done this before and has the programmer,")

I don't want to see that laptop again until it has the QXGA panel in it, and fully functioning. That's how sick I am of this thing.

Upon completion of the swap, you will receive your choice of:

$100 USD via PayPal, or
The UXGA FlexView panel that's currently in the machine (which is probably the better deal if it's going international, that way only one thing has to be shipped back)

Do you have the cable, too?

This is a pretty easy job, especially if you use the HMM. I have gotten to the point that I can swap out an LCD (straight swap, not upgrade) on just about any laptop, less than 5 years old in less than 15-20 minutes.

If you are upgrading the LCD, it does take a little longer, because you have to remove the full keyboard bezel to get to the LCD cable.

Are you just not up for the work? A lot of people are hands off when it comes to anything more than Ram.

the UXGA and QXGA panels have the same LVDS pinouts.   the UXGA cable will work to drive an EDID-modded QXGA panel.

he needs the EDID chip on the panel modded, hence his request for "someone who has done this before and has the programmer."   it requires a ponyprog and a bit of soldering.   i have the BIN file for this project but not the ponyprog.   i'd offer to help but haven't made it around to building a QXGA T60p yet.

I'll admit that the original post was posted in a bit of frustration.

But, yes, what I need is for the EDID chip to be reflashed, I can't get a working programmer made, and I ended up having to buy another old LCD cable off eBay because I destroyed the one I had trying to solder onto it... and that one got damaged. I'll edit that post to remove some of the stuff, though - I can install the panel myself.
