There's another, more important matter. If you read the description of the HD on the newegg site, you'll note that the drive they're selling is described as "OEM". This might be a problem, I'm still waiting for someone who has purchased one from newegg recently to let us know their warranty status.

The zipzoom HD is a retail HD, and is fully covered by Hitachi's 3 year warranty. I know because I always check the warranty status of my new Hitachi drives on their website's warranty lookup.

I don't know for certain if this is the case anymore with newegg, but a little over a year ago it was a major problem and a lot of people on the old Forum and the TP mail list were surprised to find themselves holding IBM/Hitachi HDs that had NO warranty.

If someone who has recently gotten an Hitachi HD from newegg would be so kind as to go to: http://www.hitachigst.com and then go to Support> Warranty/RMA, lookup their warranty status by serial number and report back I'd appreciate it greatly.

Regards,

James

Checked the warranty on mine and it says warranty until 2007-12-21.

BTW Anyone want to buy mine? I am going to a X40 and this 2.5" will not fit into it. Bought it one month ago and asking $130 including Fedex next day.

thanks
