Anybody have a still working desktop Hard Disk lying around of this exact model?
3.5" IBM DESKSTAR 40GB IC35L040AVVN07-0

Reason I ask, I had such a HD in my wife's desktop.
Then a few days ago it morphed into an IBM DeathStar

With help of parts of another identical disk I hope to save some data.
Either just replace the electronics board and hope for the best.
Or take the HD platters from the bad disk and stick them in the good disk and hope for the best.

Thanks anyone for looking inside your old cobweb-covered PCs of yore!

Shipping to ZIP 18436.

Have a close, but not an exact, match: IC35L060AVV207-0

There is an exact match on eBay for about $35 - even has an IBM FRU:

Thanks for the heads up.

Already tried one other HD, and first swapped just the circuit board. Didn't work
Then swapped the platter. Didn't work either, because I must have blown the transferred circuit board :banghead:
I need the exact same one, to try and just swap the platter of my old HD into the new one, to keep the electronics in place.
